GPS Panel Presentations

Every year, seniors from across the University take part in听the GPS Panel Presentations, a public speaking competition.

At the GPS Panel Presentations, students present their GPS Capstone to panels comprised of AUP alumni, staff, and faculty.

The GPS Capstone is a core program requirement wherein students develop a written personal narrative in which they identify an objective, present their story in the context of that objective,听accompanied by a creative and compelling visual support.

Panelists get immediate professional feedback from the panel judges. Graduating senior participants also have the possibility to win the听Danielle Savage GPS Award. 听which is conferred to the finest GPS Capstone presentation at the Commencement Ceremony each May.

How to prepare for the GPS Panels?

1. Attend a Design Your Narrative Workshop

The DYN workshop helps students examine how to use their experiences at university to build a convincing narrative that prepares them for their post-graduation plans. We walk through a series of exercises that help students reflect on everything they鈥檝e done at 91视频, both in the classroom and outside of it. Students will leave the workshop with the tools they need to confidently share their story with prospective employers, graduate school admissions teams, investors, etc., as they work towards their post-graduation goals.听

. All DYN workshops take place at the GPS Lab in the ACE Center (3rd floor of the Learning Commons).

2. Craft your personal narrative

One of the most difficult tasks you will face after you graduate (or even just before) is telling your story. The objective of the Personal Narrative exercise is to empower you to connect the dots between your curricular and co-curricular experiences in meaningful and compelling ways.听

For your Personal Narrative, you will identify a specific objective. For example: Get a communications internship at Dior. Be accepted to the Master鈥檚 Program in Public Policy at Sciences Po. Attain funding for my startup company. Be awarded grant money to fund my research project. You will then craft a narrative imagining you are presenting yourself in the context of that objective 鈥 to an employer, graduate school admissions counselor, angel investor, etc. You will receive detailed guidelines on how to build your personal narrative when you attend the Design听Your Narrative workshop.

3. Attend a Design Your Capstone Workshop

Students must have completed Design Your Narrative (DYN) to participate in and complete this, the final workshop of the Program. Students will learn how to present their personal narrative coherently and effectively to an audience, focusing on honing public speaking and creating supporting visual aids.听

听All DYC workshops take place at the GPS Lab in the ACE Center (3rd floor of the Learning Commons).听

4. Attend GPS Panel Prep Sessions

The GPS Program offers specially designed GPS panel presentation coaching sessions in the weeks ahead of the GPS Panels every Spring.

5. Get GPS Advising at the ACE Center

Come to the GPS Lab in the ACE Center (3rd floor of the Learning Commons) to meet with a GPS advisor and discuss your personal narrative during open office hours (Tuesdays, period 4) or by .听You are welcome to discuss your personal narrative outline or draft, to practice delivering your narrative, and to discuss your choice of visuals to illustrate and support your narrative.听
